Between July 26-28, 2024, Reșița will host Street Delivery and UrbanEye Film Festival for the first time! Under the umbrella of Reșița 250LAB, the event is organized by MKBT together with Arta în Dialog Association, in partnership with the Banatul Montan Community Foundation, The Amateur Filmmaker Museum, We Wilder, Bike Attack, D. Proiect + Encore Association, Dash Film SRL, De-a arhitectura, Art and Industry Salon, Urban Up.
Fantasticul Funicular is an opportunity to bring the Reșița community together around the city's most emblematic industrial heritage structure, before it enters the restoration and conversion site for a new function: a new mobility axis (pedestrian and cycling) that will connect the city center with the surrounding hills.
In the Street Delivery format, we are organizing guided tours, interactive workshops for youth and children, interventions guided by artists from all over the country, exhibitions, and public debates on topics such as the valorization of local industrial heritage, mobility perspectives, co-governance, etc.
The UrbanEye Film Festival, a unique project dedicated to film, architecture, and urbanism, will feature a series of outdoor film screenings in the pedestrian area of the Civic Center, guided tours in the industrial area, as well as a rich program of events for children and youth. The program for children includes architecture workshops, as well as an urban education performance using music. A heritage and urban exploration workshop through film is dedicated to youth and teenagers.
The program for July 26, 27, 28 is a little further down!

>> About the Funicular
The funicular is perhaps the most emblematic industrial heritage structure in Reșița. It was built between 1963-1964 and passes right over the city center, in the form of a metal bridge 30m high and 500m long. The funicular transported limestone from the stone quarries in the south of the city to the lime factory in the Mociur industrial site, on a route of over 3km that crosses hills and inhabited areas of the city. Reșița City Hall purchased the funicular in 2018 and, between 2021-2023, prepared a technical project for the functional conversion of the funicular from an industrial structure into a new pedestrian and cycling axis that will connect the city center with the surrounding hills (details about the conversion project coordinated by D-Proiect here: https://www.dproiect.ro/funicular.html). In 2024, Reșița City Hall will submit this project for funding with European funds through the New European Bauhaus axis.
>> What is “Street Delivery”?
Street Delivery is a civic initiative to reclaim public space and imagine more people-friendly cities, started in Bucharest in 2006 by Fundația Cărturești and the Order of Architects of Romania, a strategic OAR project financed through #TimbrulDeArhitectură, replicated in the country by NGOs and local initiative groups; in 2024, Reșița joins 10 other cities that will host Street Delivery events. >> What is “UrbanEye”?
The UrbanEye Film Festival brings together complementary activities that promote the approach of themes about the city and urban life through film. The goal is to raise awareness and debate current issues related to the built environment that directly or indirectly influence our daily lives. UrbanEye also means film screenings, organized throughout the country, during the year. More details on www.urbaneye.ro.
